Accept contactless cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay by holding the customer's card or phone to a compatible handset — no extra reader to buy or carry.
Send a tidy, branded pay-now link straight from the invoice. The customer taps, pays, and the job is settled before you reach the next call.
Set up Direct Debit for service plans, retainers and staged jobs so recurring payments collect themselves on the dates you agree.
Offer "pay over time" on bigger jobs like rewires or boiler swaps so customers say yes to the full quote and you still get paid up front.
The second a payment clears, Gaffer marks the invoice paid, logs it against the job and the customer, and keeps your books tidy automatically.
Every on-site payment flows straight into your accounting software with no double entry, so reconciliation is done by the time you're home.
Whether you take a deposit on the doorstep or settle a five-figure install, on-site payments work the same way across all 58 trades Gaffer supports.
No. Gaffer supports Tap to Pay on a compatible phone, so customers can tap their card or phone against your handset. You can also send a payment link by text or email if you prefer not to use a reader.
The Gaffer field app is offline-first for jobs, photos and certificates, so you can keep working with no signal. Card authorisation itself needs a connection, so if signal is weak you can send a payment link the customer pays once they're back online.
Payment features are included in your Gaffer subscription with a 14-day free trial and no card required to start. Card processing fees are charged by the payment provider per transaction. See the pricing page for current plans.
Yes. When a customer pays, the invoice is marked paid and reconciled in Gaffer, and the record pushes through to Xero or QuickBooks so there's no double entry.
