Who needs a face fit test?
Anyone required to wear tight-fitting respiratory protective equipment — disposable FFP masks, half masks and full face masks. It does not apply to loose-fitting powered hoods, which do not rely on a face seal.
Health & Safety
A tight-fitting mask that has not been fit tested on that person is not protection. Gaffer records the fit test against the worker and the specific make and model of RPE, with the test method, the result and when the retest is due.

A record per worker and per mask, because a fit test is only valid for the face and the model it was done on.
The record names the worker and the specific make and model tested. A pass on one mask says nothing about a different model, and the record reflects that.
The test method used and the pass or fail result are stored, so the evidence shows how the conclusion was reached.
Retest due dates surface with your other expiries, so someone whose fit test has run out does not turn up to a dusty job assuming they are covered.
RPE fit tests sit with your PPE register, health surveillance and qualifications in one platform.

No. A fit test is specific to the make, model and size tested on that individual. Change the model and the test has to be repeated, which is why Gaffer records the mask against the result rather than just a pass.
Yes — stubble or a beard breaks the face seal and a tight-fitting mask cannot be relied on. That is a control issue you manage alongside the test record, and it is the usual reason a retest fails.
There is no fixed statutory interval, but common practice is every two years, and immediately after significant weight change, dental work or facial injury. Gaffer stores your retest due date and surfaces it with other expiries.
