Snagging lists that get assigned, resolved and verified

Snags are how a finished job stays unfinished. Gaffer records each snag against the job and site with a location, trade, severity and due date, assigns it to someone, and keeps it open until it has been resolved and then verified — by a different person.

How snagging lists work in Gaffer

One item per snag, owned by a named person, closed only when verified.

Located and attributed

Location within the site and the trade responsible are recorded, so a snag list is actionable by whoever picks it up rather than a paragraph of description.

Resolved then verified

Resolution and verification are separate steps with separate people and timestamps, so 'done' means someone checked it, not that someone said so.

Severity and due date

Severity and a due date make the list sortable, so the snags holding up handover are distinguishable from cosmetic ones.

What you get

Snagging lists sit with your jobs, projects, photos and customer sign-off in one platform.

  • Snag reference, description and location within the site
  • Trade responsible and severity recorded per item
  • Assigned to a named person with a due date
  • Raised by and raised-at captured automatically
  • Resolved-at with resolution notes
  • Verified by a second person with a verification timestamp
  • Linked to the job, site and project for handover

Common questions about snagging lists

Why separate resolution from verification?

Because self-certified snags are the reason handover meetings go badly. Recording who fixed it and who then checked it is what turns a snag list into evidence that the work was completed to standard.

Can the customer see the snag list?

Snags are internal records against the job. What the customer sees is the job's completion status and any documentation you choose to issue through the customer portal, so you control what is shared.

Does this work for a whole project?

Yes. Snags are recorded against jobs and sites, and where jobs are grouped under a project the outstanding snags for the whole contract are visible together.

Can snags be raised on site?

Yes, in the mobile app with photos attached, offline if there is no signal — which is usually exactly when you are walking a site at handover.
